Which students can apply?: 

Individuals living in the South West, especially in Devon and Cornwall. There is a preference for people with special education needs, and for schoolchildren with serious family difficulties causing the child to be educated away from home.

Typical Grants: 

One-off grants of between £200 and £500 are made to schoolchildren for school clothing (not uniforms), books, equipment, fees and educational outings in the UK; people starting work for equipment; and further and higher education students, including mature students, for books, equipment, fees, maintenance/living expenses, childcare and educational outings in the UK.

How to apply:: 

In writing to the correspondent at least one clear month before the trustees' meetings in March, July and November. Applications can be made directly by the individual, or through a third party such as a parent/guardian, agency, They should include the individual's current financial circumstances (budger helpful), confirmation of place on course, letter in support (tutor, college or welfare worker) and information about the cost of items needed (if appropriate). An sae should also be included.
